I don't know much about the stock market.
I am totally debt free, including my house, worth $ 150,000 am 53 yrs old, retired, have monthly retirment (company pension income of $ 3,600/month), and am provided company health insurance. I have $ 25,000 invested with my stockbroker (and I have a $ 7,000 rainy day fund in a MMMF checking account. I want to use $ 500 just to play around in the stock market on my own, rather than thru my stockbroker. How to I go about investing the $ 500, so that if I want to sell it in 3 months or 7 months, I can and pull the money out ? I just want the fun of having a little money to play around investing with. I really like vanguard.com but there are so many places out there on the internet. What would you do ?

I have just inherited roughly 90,000 dollars. Right now i have terrible credit(thanxs to ex husband), so i figure i should pay off all outstanding debt first. I should be left with approx. $50,000. What is the smartest thing to do with this money. I'm a single mother of three and what to save and earn for future short and long term. I have no previous knowledge on finance and investing. Thanks so much!

I have $25,000 in a savings account that I would like to put in an account that can make some interest but want to make sure it is safe. My bank offers a high yield CD with short term (10 month) commitment required. They guarantee a 5% return. I am looking to put into the account for 2 years.

I placed a limit order for MNCS at $3.78. Very shortly, the price was over $4, but my limit order still hadn't gone through. While waiting to see what was going to happen, I got on Y! answers for an hour and a half. All of the sudden, while I'm reporting a 13 year old girl for saying she's datig a 37 year old man ( http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsPdGoa9BRxRbtml9.Nbb8rsy6IX?qid=20061014194153AAdewZj ), I get a popup saying I've just NOW bought at $3.78!

Yeah! The price came back down and I bought in on the decline! Lemme check...OH CRAP ITS BACK UP OVER 4$! LOL!

It is a Wachovia CAP Brokerage Account that has a value of $22,920 but the Securities Market Value is $68,881...in other words I have borrowed about $46,000 from the account (this includes interest of course).

I really made a mistake in dropping 50 grand into this about 8 years ago and have a number of other retirement money resources set-up for me now.

I guess what I'm saying is I would very happily rather have the amont I owe in margin loans be partially paid by the account value - and then just make payments on the remaining balance...can this be done?

I would like to close this account down - What are the options typically in this situation?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Can you please help figure this out? If you have $10 investment that makes 2% daily (minus weekends and holidays), at a compounding rate of 100 percent (meaning your principal increase daily, for example you make 0.2 in the first day plus $10 as the principal equals $10.2). How much will you make in 1 year, without withdrawal?
