There are 23 Stock Exchanges in India. Bombay Stock Exchange is the first Stock Exchange to be Recognised and Inter-connected Stock Exchange of India is the latest one to be given recognition. However this page show the recognition as per SEBI directive.

The two major stock exchanges are NSE and BSE. Other local stock exchanges really do not matter now.
