I have been asked to buy a Christmas present of one of these photo displays. I would be interested to hear from somone who has one. Do some have mp3 players and it is a wise way to spend +£80 for something that may not have much use

So I have been going everywhere with it. I use a Pentax 1000 and a Canon 30d.

So I'm noticing most of the time the cameras give me the same settings if I point at the card or other stuff. Last night we had the most great sunset. The automatic shots were horrible, when I used the card the shoots looked really good. Do I use the card when the light is not "normal" and the cameras should get the rest right?

Am I making sence? Am I on the right track?

Can you get the same blur/ realism effect on a digital camera as opposed to film? I'm thinking about getting a new camera....but should I stick to film or do the new digital cameras provide the same characteristic effects.

I have a lot of trouble getting landscapes to turn out right. Are there any suggestions/rules that I should follow? I do know that the horizon should not be in the center of the photo and that the sky should have some texture.

Here are what I consider my three best (They're still not good enough for me):

Greetings !

I am trying to restore a very old photo ( around 40 years old ). Its a graduation picture. I have restored most of the photo except for the nose area.

Facing the photo, only the right side of the nose exists, the left side of the nose had been damaged ( just a white area ).

Please give me suggestions on how to do the restoration of the nose area.

Thank you.

I'm looking for some reading that encourages some growth of technique, and/or maybe offers a hint of fresh inspiration...?
Does anyone have any suggestions..?
I don't want to read something boring and 100% technical and confusing. I have never 'studied' photography. I guess you could say I am a self-taught photographer of two year's experience. Any PERSONAL(not quickly googled after reading this question, and picking the first link..) suggestions would be greatly appreciated(:
Thanks<3

What photography websites, blogs, forums, etc..., do you partake of, actively, sporadically, or just as an observer(lurker)??

Anything you would care to share with us??

Hi, I'm a beginner to Photoshop (I have CS2.).. I barely know anything. Would using a reference/guide book such as the "For Dummies" series, or some other book, be helpful in helping a beginner?
I'm 15, and I don't ever really have much time on my hands. I would probably read and flip through only few pages a day. However, I think it would be great if I could figure out how to use Photoshop, but I'm hesitant to buy a book if it might not be useful.

Could anybody give a good opinion on these types of books?
