i have hundreds of photos on my computer and i am suppose to be getting one of the new digital photo frames for Christmas from my boyfriend. but i was reading about them and i read somewhere that the pictures have to be on a photo card like out of your digital camera. can i not transfer my photos from my computer to the frame? or plug my camera right into it? anyone know anything about these new gadgets?

I just bought one for my mom and am getting it set up so I know how it works. If your computer does not have a memory card reader/writer in it you can buy them for about $30, it hooks into your computer via the USB port. You can download your photos from your computer to the memory card via the memory card reader/writer. Some of the frames have small amounts of memory so you can download some pictures but not many. The frame I bought has 16mb of internal memory. As well as using a memory card it also will display pictures from a memory stick as it has a USB port. I suppose you could directly download from your computer via the USB port but as I said the frame probably won't have enough internal memory to hold many pictures. It is really easy to download the pictures to a memory card and the cards are so cheap now. You can get a 2G card for less than $30 and that will hold hundreds of pictures.

I would love to get that as a gift! But what about purchasing the jewelery you want the girls to wear at the wedding? Or, in a wedding I was in, the bride paid for our hair and nails, which was great! But if you've already considered those options and they're not right for you, I think the frame is a great idea! EDIT: That's awesome that you're taking care of their hair and nails AND getting them a gift! In that case, I think the frame is perfect!

They read the card and display the photos from there. They don't have a seperate hard drive, so you can't transfer your pictures directly from the computer.

I think that you have to use the photo card, but maybe for some you can download into them.
