I'm working on a film script and I'm a little confused with my history - a woman in the script gets married and then 3 years later ends up with another man - would this be acceptable in the 1890s? thanks for the help.

Also, did Wilson make mistakes that could have led to a different ending? How could his actions have gotten a different result?
No sarcasm. I don't usually ask questions because I'm stumped -- my other questions were for other people's opinion. But I...am...stumped... And it's a terrible, terrible thing to be when you have a deadline to meet.

Especially since there was a clear "misunderstanding" as to where the border between Mexico and Texas was located. Was this "Manifest Destiny" or just an excuse to seize Mexican lands?

I remember very little from HS but something I do remember and think will stick with me is a Nova documentary my history teacher showed us. It was titled something like "The greatest inventions of the last 2000 years" (move was made in 2000) or something like that. We had a diccusion afterwards and many said it was the automobile, electricity, telephone, airplane, computers or TV. I disagreed I think it is the printing press, why? because even with automoblies, electricity, phones, airplanes, computers and TV, if the printing press was not invented, would be even have those right now and even if we did the knowledge wouldn't be so widespread. Many people who were alive during the time the printing press was invented couldn't read or were read to them by their priest. So many goods things came from this one invention.

What do you think is the greatest invention of the last 2000 years and why?

I think history texts should refer to it as "The Age of Boobism" or "The American Dark Ages."

I'm sure this has been done to death and I searched and found a bunch of useless stuff I don't care about. So I just want the straight, quick answer. When did Ancient Rome and Greece exist and what areas did they cover? Actually as a quick extra, if they were around at the same time did Rome conquer Greece?

Is the 4th Of July actually now an Ironic Joke? The real name of the holiday is "Independence Day" , celebrating the fact that our country was no longer part of the British Empire and therefore 'independent', or self reliant. How would the founding fathers react if we told them we are now utterly dependent on just about every country in the world (except, well, maybe England...) for one thing or another? We could not survive one day as a nation were it not for our reliance on the Middle East for fuel, China for goods (and financial backing), India for, yep, you guessed it, customer service and so on and so on. I just was thinking about how July 4 ,1776 must have been. The ability to say, "Screw the rest of the world- We have everything we need RIGHT HERE!" if we want to. What a feeling that must have been. Maybe July 4 will have to become ," Start of the US Day". Or ' Global Economy Day" Or " Fireworks Day" (which are made, where, by the way?

what i mean is that ancitent greece first was a divided nation, we had the city state of sparta, athens, thermopaly, etc.
their were ruled by different governments and kings untill persia attempted to invade greece, then they became united agaisnt persia and eventually becae one government and one nation
is it similar to europe of today?,
we are aready recognsie ourselves as europeans (well we can if we want to) and we already have some form of government (the EU). also do you believe that we need another major war for europe to become truly a united Continent?

German Americans make a great amount of the American people. In ww2, were they allowed to fight in the army? If so, how much could they have been, and how did they feel?
