Gandhi Ji was one of the greatest men in history!! He broke the British hold over his huge country with his incredible faith and ability to endure great hardship--ALL through non-violence!! AND to have convinced hundreds of thousands? of his countrymen to follow him in his non-violent protests!!! His seemingly inability to feel rage and anger over the British brutal controls--OR his control over anger and rage, was god-like!!! I was and am still in awe! I'm sure the threats and beating and brutality that he and his followers endured, would have cowered me into a shivering state of total fear!!! In theory, it all makes sense, but in practicality, the doing takes great heroism!! There are many other examples of people who found freedom with non-violence--the American Civil Rights of the American Black people, as well as a few Whites. They, too, depended upon God's love and refused to be incited into fighting!! Their total belief in the Love of God and of what is a moral right, carried they through, just 40 some years ago!!

I became aware of Gandhi and his work in the 1960s, a time of great turmoil in the United States, where I live. People who marched for civil rights were beaten by police and sent to jail or even murdered. The US was engaged in a great war which made little sense to many of us. Attempts to demonstrate for a change in policy were met with violence by police and soldiers. Some advocated violence in return. But we were influenced by Gandhi to believe that we could not work for peace by using violence. His principles of non-violent non-cooperation were used by thousands, and eventually the government fell, the war ended, and rights were granted to ethnic minorities.

well i am never inspired with Gandhi i give credit him as a good person and i values some of his thoughts. but if we think what we were facing just because of him it is more what he has give to India
: - first just because of him netaji (Mr bosh) have to leave congress instead of being president of congress when he defeated the candidate of Gandhi against him.and when Gandhi openly said do favor for my candidate.
:- he could cave bghat singh, sukhdev and rajguru from capital punishment instead he never tried for it from its power that he can do it easily
: - he support Nehru but Patel was more able and popular then him and Gandhi know that
: - he was not able to stop partition

it somewhat is my information that the belief of Social Disobedience exchange into originated by Henry David Thoreau. It exchange into taken up by Gandhi and Martin Luther King. those others which you stated, I even have by no potential heard of. In previous societies, well-known massacre exchange into the norm and nonviolence might recommend specific slaughter. i will't see how embracing that ideology might carry approximately an progression of your ideals. this is the 1st time I even have even somewhat agreed with Pluto C.
