I've just finished reading The Winter King by Bernard Cornwell (first book of the Warlord series/a novel of Arthur) and I enjoyed it very much. So much that I actually decided to read more about the Arthurian era. I'm interested in both the historical events and the life and customs of people. Experts in history, where shall I start? All informative answers are highly aprreciated!

Ok, so one question about the world war 1.. Our teacher told us that Russia and Germany used to be allies before the actual World War 1. So, how and when did Germany lose Russia as an ally? How did it affect the Germany war plans?

Someone said, the trouble with stereotypes is what's wrong about them, and what's right about them. What's your experience?
For example, people believe Jews are tight with money - rubbish. All the Jews I've known are very generous. Alert to business opportunities? Yes.
Sexy French? Yes, but it's often a bit of a pose.
Efficient Germans? No, not really. Some of them.
Humourless Germans? No, but the sense of humour isn't very developed - like dull 13-year-olds.

We are tall just like the Scandinavians; and Swedish, Danish and German are all considered to be "Germanic" languages, so I wasn't sure if we also shared the same ancestors. Do you know any sources where I can find out what the early Germans were like (their appearance, if they really had blond hair, were they barbarians, what were they famous for...)
Thanks.
