I have been to all the sites involving dada but have yet to find a site that actually breaks dada down, analyzing and interpreting it. Can you help me?

if you real want to get specific, i would recommend looking at one work at a time (if interested in the art work). each piece has such a different meaning behind it according to theories & the artist. it is so much more accurate to go piece by piece or at least artist by artist.

below are my favorite quick-reference sites for artists, which always lead to more in-depth information. the info seems to be accurate when compared to what i have learned in my art history classes (my major).

make sure you take into account the war, which played a huge role in Dada art/literature. it is really an anti-art movement, so that helps to put it into perspective with those thoughts in mind. many artists fled to Zurich or New York to esecape the war, where simultaneously Dada was formed in slightly different ways by two different groups of people. there were others as well, but those are the two main groups. the Zurich group was led by Hugo Ball, if my memory serves me correctly, and they had a bar where they had such Dada meetings of sort.

ok, so pardon my random rant... but it is very interesting. also, Dada & Surrealism are closely related, so keep that in mind.

have fun!
