I know Elizabeth is one, but it is getting a bit overused in our family. Strangely, most name books don't seem to have a category for this.

As a Mr. Baker today will have had his ancestor baking bread or selling it in his ancient community etc.. However I have tried to find a site with a database for surnames and their meanings/origins. "Tarling" is my surname and I think the "early Tarling's" were from around Essex/England. Who can help?

I was adopted when I was a baby, AND unfortunately never got a chance to meet my biological family. I am very grateful for the mother and father I was given because they have been amazing, but I have always longed to meet my bio mother. My adoption was closed so I have no information pertaining to her, but I found out she was raped and that's when I was conceived. I live in Tampa and know the hospital I was born at in Tampa. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do? I have tried the national adoption registry, but am not really sure of what else to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Tried Web sites but just dead ends, date limited to 1906 in most cases. Trying to find a death and birth certificate for 2 babies born between 1933 and 1937 in the Glasgow area. Both died approx 6 weeks old. dont know where to start. Need to piece together a family puzzle with no real details. No d.o.b, just parents names.
Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks

Fedewa, or Vedua, or de Vedua...

Where does this family orignate from. One source claims one, so possibly all his ancestors, were born in Tiranoo, Lombardy. Oddly enough though, I was always led to believe the family came from the German village of Lagenford, which is what we thought before finding new information. Apparently the name Fedewa, was not only Vedua at one point but was also de Vedua based on the earliest source I can find. What confuses me is the French sound to the name, and the fact that all of these men had blatantly German names like Jacob and Anton.

The name changed from de Vedua to Vedua sometime around 1720 apparentyly. It than changed to Fedewa sometime around the 1850's following immigration to America. Does anyone know any information about any of the three versions of the surname I listed.
