Is there a website like Ancestry.com for Danes? I know a lot names and birthdays, marriage dates. If there is not a website, where should I write. I am looking in Aarhus. Thanks!

Ancestry does have a German site and your membership from the US does work on their site. www.ancestry.de

I've been more successful, though, with the Danish Emigration Archives: http://www.emiarch.dk/home.php3?l=en

Also very helpful is the DDD (Dansk Demografisk Database) which does have an English interface:

http://ddd.dda.dk/ddd_en.htm

Their church records are intact and most have been either filmed by the LDS or extracted and indexed (even better!). Their probate records are filmed but not readily available in the US. They are, however, available if you either go to the archives or write to the court.

Here's a research guide with all of the addresses and sources you might need: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/RG/guide/Denmark.ASP?

You should check to see if there are any LDS (Mormon) churches around. Talk to someone there and see if there's a geneology library in the area. The LDS church is very big on geneology and mantains a pretty large database. You may also be able to find out on LDS.org.

Greetings fellow Dane!

try familysearch.org, the sight run by the LDS church.

Many Mormon's are of Danish descent.

Also, check the Ellis Island website. They have passenger lists there when I found my grandparents.
