I can't understand the meaning of the phrase,"working form above downwards",or the meaning of the phrase"from above downwards"----this phrase also appear in "studied form above downs".

The problem is that my bf doesn't feel the beat when he's dancing. Seems like he has his own melody in his head and dances according to it. We would like to attend waltz classes, but I'm afraid that he will damage my feet :)
