I'm curious to know your opinions about some of the concepts in Orwell's masterpiece. I've read the book many times and am not a high school or college kid looking for essay ideas.

What do you think of the idea of a Big Brother?

Does 1984 show an odd proximity of capitalism and dystopian socialism? Consider the shop keeper (capitalist or pretend capitalist) who essentially "sells" Winston to The Party. Also consider that most major religions espouse uptopian socialism in the form of Heaven. It's interesting to me that a communal state of existence is paradise in the afterlife and hell on earth.

What are your thoughts about Room 101?

Do you feel that there is any real truth to the issues of centralized power that Orwell puts forth?

I have a possible audition on tuesday the 13th. It asks for young male actors ages 9-15 for the audition, and I am 16. How strict are age cutoffs, is it even worth my time to go? Also, they ask me to prepare a two minute comic monolugue (I have that don't worry) but they then say in the next sentence "Cold Reading." What does that mean? A cold reading of my monologue or off of the script? I thought I would have my monologue prepared and memorized. Please give me any help, I really appreciate it.

I'm writing a tragic short story and i want to give it a tragic end.
I'm thinking in 3 options:

-End the story with the double suicide of the two lovers that are protagonist. (how should them finish their lives?)

- End with the public execution of both, that the to lovers die together in the scaffold (and what method hanging burning or beheading?)

- With both lovers separated forever, she locked in a convent and he in the galleys forever.

What do you think? which final is more dramatic and tragic?,What's worse of this things? and what is more romantic?
