...for a student from Australia who wants to intern there for a few months from august/september to late november?

I'm interested in history, scenery, christmas markets and architecture. Not Oktoberfest or biergartens, as i don't drink. :)

@tm i'm favouring the Baden-Wurttemberg and Bayern regions, for their scenery and proximity to France, Switzerland, Austria and the Czech Republic.

anyone who's been over there?

My fiance is in the army. Hes coming back on oct.21 and we plan to get married 3 days after that. Hes going to be here for 10 days, or 24 days. We are leaving to Germany (thats where he is going to be stationed). Now my question is, I need to get a passaport but it takes 4 to 6 weeks to come in the mail and if i want an emergency passaport i need to pay about $300. Can I get my passaport now even though my name is going to change in a couple of weeks?

I've tried discussing things on German forums since I understand the language. The only thing was that I wrote in English. Since I didn't write some words in capital letters such as "english" or "german" or words that you'd usually write in capital letters they just started picking on me. They said things like "oh I don't think she's from the U.S." or "she's not a native english speaker" or they just called me a liar. Why are people so obsessed about something like this. It's not that it bothered me but I'm just wondering in general.

After a wonderful time at The World Cup got a letter through from the German police saying I have a speeding fine. I admitted the offence, but now I am unsure as to whether it is a scam, and now to pay the fine as it is in Euros. There is a payment slip with the letter, but its all in German. Any ideas?

I think I would fit in really well in Germany. I'm American and have never been to Germany, but my ancestry line is pure German, and I'm about as German looking as anyone could be! I would like to learn German as well, but I've heard it's very hard. I just think that I would do well with German people, as I'm basically a German person in the United States! Why would my ancestors ever want to move here! Thank you for your answer.
