It depends on what you mean by "older" and whether they enjoy museums/cool old stuff. There is a lot of sightseeing that is really cool if you are into looking at buildings and things from the past. Germany has a very rich culture from the middle ages to WWII to now. I was a college student when I first went (which I assume is older than your children), but my cousins went a couple years ago when they were 8 and 13 and had a ball. You can find stuff to do for people of all interests if you look hard enough, so I'm sure you would have a great time.
Cool things to see are Neuschwanstein (the "Cinderella" castle in Bavaria), the Black Forest, Berlin, Munich, Nuernberg (though I may be biased because I lived there), and it's always fun to catch a soccer game or two (Nuernberg or Munich are doing well this year). If you are still planning on going this year (mid September-beginning of October) and your kids are in their late-teens there is always Oktoberfest (which is fun even if you don't drink). Every town has a cool old church and an interesting history, you really can't lose.

Absolutely, there are lots of Castle's to visit, great scenery, the train is relativley inexpensive if you have a pass and on time, Berlin is pretty awesome and Dresden is a must see. The Black Forrest, Munich, too much to mention. My Granddaughter went with us as she turned 3 and she still remembers the horsy ride in Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

I was based at Ramstien Air Base,Ramstien Germany and I loved living in Germany,Landstule is a nice little town and if you go to Frankfurt in the summer I think it's June they have the lighting of the Castle festival,They light up the castle like it's on fire.And your children will love spaghetti ice,it's vanilla ice cream in long thin strips on a plate looking like spaghetti and strawberry topping that looks like meat balls.Also German is an easy language to learn you can teach some to your children be for they go.have fun.

Germany is VERY family oriented i`m from Bavaria... If you visit Germany go to Rothenburg and Ansbach and Bad Windsheim as well as Neustadt-Aisch

That depends on the area and the time of year you want to visit. If you want to have sun and beaches, you have to stay in the northern parts. For mountains you have to go to the south. I'm German and if I can help, drop me a line, if you like. Or post some more information here.

Yes, but stay in Bavaria. You have the mountains, good lakes, and also cities like Munich, Kempten or Nuernberg.

dont stay in miunich all the time, visit berlin!!! its the most beautifulest and interesting place in germany! here u have everything, hidstory, museum, party, zoo...ah, i love berlin!
