My school asks for 2500-3000$ for a two week trip to France, where we will visit St. Etienne, Lyon, Paris and a couple others. We get to stay in a five star hotel and that price covers flight tickets and other necessities, plus spending money. does thst sound reasonable?

I'm 19 years old and I'm going to Paris for 2 years, but I'm so nervous. I only know the basics to French. Is it hard to pick up the language there? I've heard they're really mean to Americans but I've always wanted to go so I don't want to let it stop me. Are they all going to be that way toward me? Flying into Paris 11/17 - 12/1 and want to spend 8 -9 days in Paris, then head to another semi-close area for 3-4 days (maybe explore 2 -3 different places, villages, cities) that we can get to fairly quickly either via train or a rental car.. I could use some suggestions of where are nice, romantic, interesting places to go.
