I lost my wallet that contained important documents. I received a letter from he Police that they have recovered it and I may collect it or authorize someone to collect it. Since I dont live in France and I dont know anyone in Paris, I am wondering how can I get it back. Can someone suggest some thing or offer help in getting my wallet back?

The police must have had this situation before. Contact them, explain the problem, and ask for suggestions. They might be able to release it to your country's consulate, who could send it on, or suggest an agency that handles this sort of thing.

Contact someone in the American Embassy in Paris and ask them if they can retrieve it on your behalf.
