My Fiancee has to get a travel document to travel to Mauritius on 10th Oct because she has not renewed her Maurituan Passport. She has been told that she has to get two people in high positions to fill in a personal statement for her. is this true and if so, who can do it? and do they have to personally know them?

The inner island has so much to see and yet all the brochures for the island never details anything more than the beach complex's. Why?.
Are holidaymakers nowadays so regimented that they are unable to function as an organiser themselves? - is it holiday complex, or nothing?.
Or is the inner part of the Island dangerous to go and venture into nowadays?. (I'm thinking of Curepipe, Vacoas, Bonne Terre etc)

with lastminute.com. I've just been on the website and they are selling the same holiday on the same dates to the same hotel for £350 cheaper.. that totally sucks. I'm fed up now !!!

Rupees or US dollars or travellers cheques... help as I've heard you can only take in about 700 rupees into the country.

Also do I have to pay a departure tax at the airport.. bit of a cheek if so because the flights costs a fortune anyway!!

I'm going to Mauritius next month and am arriving at SSR International Airport and need to get to Le Morne [Pointe Sud Ouest] - specifically the Indian Hotel. How much should I be paying for a taxi to get to Le Morne.I ask as I always seem to get badly ripped off by taxi drivers when I go abroad

Secondly is the bus network in Mauritius good. i don;t feel brave enough to hire a car whilst there, and I will want to get from Le Morne to places like Flic en Flac, Black River Gorges National Park, Pamplemousse and over to the east coast to visit Ile aux cerfs...

Finally what currency should I take to Mauritius... Rupees, US Dollars, US travellers cheques.. I read somewhere that you can't take more than 700 rupees into the country?
Thanks!
