MAURITIUS is a small island, of volcanic origin, of approximately 1865 square kilometres situated in the Indian Ocean. It is almost entirely surrounded with coral reefs, and has beautiful white sand beaches and blue lagoons; it has a central plateau and beautiful mountains. It is approximately 2000 km from Durban (South Africa), 6000 km from Perth (Australia) and 4700 km from Bombay (India). Its population is made up of various ethnic groups, namely Indian, Chinese, Muslim, European, and Creole (people of African origin). Its a melting pot of cultures, hence different types of cuisine. There are many beach hotels all around the island, as well as others in town. Last December, there were so many tourists that all the hotels were completely booked. It's a place worth visiting.
Hope you will be able to travel to MAURITIUS in a not too distant future.
