I know that track is a sport but there doesnt seem like theres any money involved except endorsments...Is this true?

The latest friendly fire instance in Afganisthan has claimed the life of an Canadian soldier an ex Olympian. What the heck is wrong with the US Airforce, how many more are they gonna kill, this is the 2nd instance of friendly fire.

The 2-girl beach volleyball is the first thing that springs to my mind.
What is that? - serve; the other team sets the ball up; pops it over the net; the girls on the other side dive into the sand.
Then set it up to do it again. Way friggen boring.
Keep it on the beach as a recreational thing to do.
What other "sports" or "events" would you readers like to see taken out of the Olympics?

I think cheerleading should be. And to the guy who said cheerleading had no rules actually for my league it DOES!!! I also thik that it is much harder then pool also!!!!

You can give predictions about any team in any sport. You can also give predictions about misc. stuff related to the olympics such as the opening and closing ceremony, security, economical benifits, controversies, etc.

Suppose you are downhill skier from Egypt, for instance, and the best in your country, but not good by world standards, can you still get to the Winter Olympics? I want to find some athletes and train them for the 2010 Winters in Vancouver from a hot country not normally in the Winter Olympics.

I couldn't care less whether one guy can run faster than another or throw something further than everybody else. So what?

The notion that sport "brings nations together" is rubbish. Hold a football tournament in the Middle East and see how much good feeling that generates.

As for the economic arguement, if the regeneration of the area is of such lasting benefit, why does the government wait until there's a sporting event to do it. Why not do it anyway?

Now, I have my hobbies but I don't force the general population to fund them. Nor do I force families who have lived in the same house for a 100 years to move and have their house bulldozed so I can continue with my hobby.
