What has this country done for sportsmen.Nothing...........
Even basic training facilities are lacking in many sports.Everytime we read sportsmen's plight in lodging/transportation during some tournaments. How would they compete if they cant train. If one beats all this ,he is a hero. What about others who dont make it.What after their bodies age,JOB SECURITY?????????Look at Russia. They churn up tennis stars, olympic medalists year after year.It is high time the so called CORPORATES WITH SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY adopt some sportsmen and give them life rather than speak on some stupid TV show about Govt. inability.

The reasons are not far to see..
1. only the lower middle class is very active since it is a good way of getting livelihood, 2. no one wants to invest in the children's programmes 3. tobacco companies, who can invest, are prevented from advertising 4. parents lay syress on studies only..5. world class gear is prohibitively costly 6. associations have becoming earning propositions for officials...7 children have their attention diverted after showing initial promise...you could write a book

Good question and one I have pondered myself?
I suppose cricket is their game however despite what a billion Indians will tell you, they have never really consistently been in the top 3 word teams.
Must be something to do with the participation rate and internal sports structure.

not tat does not mean indians don't have the ability....
it is tat most among us do not have the economic power to showcase their skills...
only few have enough economic conditions to extend their skills...
but it is not the only reason physically Indian's r not among the gr8est.that too wud b a factor....
not much Indians volunteer in sportin...that cud also b a factor...
Every Indian must have the attitude to take India to the World.....
v only feel Indians are not worthy rather than feelin tat v must b the one who got to do somethin... V people r fit only to criticise others and nothin more...

I'd like to point you in the direction of Russel Peters to answer that question.
"Down - set - hike!"
...
"Go! Run with it! I am right here, go!
If you're not sure what I'm talking about, you can find his standup on putfile.com, youtube, and even myspace video.
