Bangladesh, for the "Super 8?"

"We'll never give up this fight
Until we reach our destiny
We will never give up our goal to win
And show the cricket world what Sri Lanka can be."

I had a dream last night that India will win the game against Sri Lanka convincingly to book their spot in Super 8s. Sri Lanka will win the toss and elect to field first. Dravid and Ganguly will score a record-breaking partnership, both hitting centuries but Sachin Tendulkar will be the man of the match. Indian total will be 307 for 5. Jayasuriya will be out for 10 runs, caught Yuvraj Singh bowled Munaf Patel. Sri Lanka will be all out for 267 after 46 overs.

Also, Bermuda will beat Bangladesh.

I hope my dream comes true :]

Bermuda all out for 78 against Sri Lanka
Bermuda all out for 156 against India

coincidence....or not?

prior to the demise of Woolmer, Pakistan coach, Pakistan were playing poorly.....now they are playing so well?

Ireland defeated Pakistan in a great victory on St. Patrick's Day (also Pakistan colours are green)?

coincidence?

I do not know how the system in the cricket world cup works,

does anyone know what India has to do (in terms of points, matches etc) to get into the super eight?

This time India has played terribly, but can they make a comeback from this horrible situation, or is all lost and there is no chance for them now?

when both India and Bangladesh have 4 points from 2 wins each & India has higher NRR ?

2007-03-21 08:46:42 · 5 answers · asked by mrk_182000 1

As far as I understand, net run rate is calculated as :
(winning teams score / overs batted) - (losing teams score / 50 overs ).
Thus we see that sri lanka made 321 against bermuda and bowled them out for 78. So it works out to (321 / 50) - (78 / 50) = 4.86, this agrees with the NRR tables shown on TV etc.

Now India after the Bangladesh match had -0.19.

In the India vs Bermuda match, India made 413 and took out Bermuda for 156. So calculating we should have (413 / 50) - (156 / 50) which is equal to 5.14. Adding -0.19 gives 4.95.

But in the statistics it is shown as 2.56. The only way to get this is if we take the calculation as (413/50) - (156/50) / 2 approximately.

How is it calculated?

Regards
Vivek
