India should beat Sri Lanka to enter Super Eight.
Its simple:
=== Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh and Bermuda in this group.
=== Each team winning a match gets 2 points
=== So, 2 out of 4 teams getting maximum winning points goes to the Super Eight. If two or more teams are tied with equal number of points, then their Run Rrate is taken into account and a team(s) with better Run Rate goes to the Super Eight.
=== If a team is all out or defeated, their Run Rate reduces.
Sri Lanka has won over Bermuda and Bangladesh and has 4 points in the tally.
India have lost to Bangladesh and have won against Bermuda, so they are at 2 points.
Bangladesh have won against India and will win against Bermuda and will be at 4 points.
Now, according to the above, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have 4 points and will goto Super 8 as India has 2 points and Bermuda 0 points.
We still have India Vs Sri Lanka, where India has to beat Sri Lanka to get 2 more points thus bringing its total tally to 4 points.
If thats the case, then 3 teams, India, SL and Bangladesh will be at 4 points. When it comes to better Run Rate, India and SL will proceed to Super 8.
aah, I hope its clear : ) God Save India : )

Now that the Bangladesh-SL match is over, we have a much clearer picture of what India needs to do.
1) India has to beat SL on Friday
2) Hope that Bangladesh does not beat Bermuda by a margin of 547 runs or more (could be more if India beats SL, and increases its NRR from the current 2.507)
Given that #2 is not realistic, very simply, India needs to beat SL. The good news is that if India does so, then India advances to the Super 8 as the #1 team from Group B, and carries forward 2 points into that stage.
Even though SL, India and Bangladesh could potentially be tied at 2 wins apiece, per the ICC regulations, the first tiebreaker is Net Run Rate.
Even if India loses to SL, there is a possibility that India will qualify if Bermuda beats Bangladesh. NRR takes precedence over head-to-head, so there still will be hope for India, should they lose to SL. Of course, whether they are deserving at that point, is a different issue altogether.

Because we are most vulnerable, and not sure to win against any team.We can't do any thing except relying on others mistakes.
If Bangladesh loose against Srilanka, If Srilanka loose against India. If Bangladesh wins against Bermuda but, if our net run rate is greater then XYZ teams...!!! India may be qualified to play in super eight.
As per media reports, because the income from India is very big, if India doesn't play in super eight or further, income of organisers,sponsorers, bookies etc. etc. will be affected.To avoid such a situation, all these would be affected people may help.
So our heros may have a Chance to win a world cup. You see; there are many many factors apart from playing good cricket !!.

To put it simply and very bluntly, what India has to do is QUALIFY.
India is in Group B. Out of the 4 Teams only the Top TWO will Qualify.
At this moment Sri Lanka is through since they have already raised the Bar so high for Bangladesh to beat Sri Lanka [Match in progress]
Bermuda can't make it, even if they beat Bangladesh [which is unlikely to happen but favourable to India if such an upset takes place.]
India's hope is to beat Sri Lanka convincingly instead of hoping [or Praying] that Bermuda might beat Bangladesh.

India can reach Super 8 if they beat Sri Lanka. If they loose to Sri Lanka, India can reach Super 8 only if Barmuda defeat Bangladesh.

India just has to win at any cost against Sri Lanka, it would be good if they win by some big margin, to be on the front-line, compared to Bangladesh's performance against Bermuda.

Here is the possiblity of Tie Also....due to rain/Any reason
India X SL
If India wins
{
Bangla X Bermuda
If Bangla Wins
SL =4,India=4,Bangla=4,Bermuda=0---------case 1
else (If Bermuda Wins)
SL=4,India=4.Bangla=2,Bermuda=2---------case 2
If Bangla & Bermuda Tie (Rain / Any reason),
SL=4,India=4.Bangla=3,Bermuda=1---------case 3
}
If SL Wins
{
Bangla X Bermuda
If Bangla Wins
SL =6,India=2,Bangla=4,Bermuda=0-------case 4
else (If Bermuda Wins)
SL=6,India=2.Bangla=2,Bermuda=2--------case 5
If Bangla & Bermuda Tie (Rain / Any reason),
SL=6,India=2.Bangla=3,Bermuda=1---------case 6
}
If India X SL Tie(Rain/Any Reason)
{
Bangla X Bermuda
If Bangla Wins
SL =5,India=3,Bangla=4,Bermuda=0-------case 7
else (If Bermuda Wins)
SL=5,India=3.Bangla=2,Bermuda=2--------case 8
If Bangla & Bermuda Tie (Rain / Any reason),
SL=5,India=3.Bangla=3,Bermuda=1---------case 9
}
In case of equal points, run rate plays....
so let the time go...and decide and filter out these 9 combinations....if 9 planets are favouring india, definitely india will reach super 8.....any planet(case) is not good,india is simply out and its the turn for chappel to suicide
