I'm not sure if the above answer is the correct one.
Does the cycling road race not go on for the better part of one day, or what about the modern pentathalon and 3-day eventing.

I think the problem is the number of countries who play cricket, for a sport to be played in the olypics it must be played in 75 countries across 4/5 continents( cant remember if its 4 or 5) for men, and 50 countries across 4/3 continents for women, these figures may be slightly off, I didn't look them up, but you get the general idea, cricket has nowhere near enough affiliated countries.

Even if it had it would have to get in line behind sports such as squash and rugby 7's which are on the waiting list to get in.

I asked this question my self and the biggest reason-International Cricket Council will not approve the 20-20 format as legitimate matches. The IOC doesn't list cricket as a recognized sport over a dispute with the ICC. Also is cricket in compliance with the World Anti-Doping Union?

Other reasons given had to do with extreme length and the fact the game is played only in Commonwealth nations. Baseball was dropped since this was a burden on Europe and the fact MLB is not in compliance with WADU. Also only played in the America's Caribbean Region/Pacific Rim.

Olympic road cycling has been modified into a single day(women/men) race that is over in two days plus you only need a paved road no separate facilities have to be built. Rugby Seven's and Squash should be the two sports chosen based on global appeal and competitiveness.

no its not possible unless they modify some of the rules
anyway the reason why they dont include cricket in olympics is because cricket is a very long game and the shortest form of cricket is as long as 8 hrs and usually all the olympic games are less then 2 hrs
so unless cricketing body modifies some of its rules for olympics then it can be possible but it would still be long

CB sequence, cough. CB sequence.... i don't think of that Australia are soooo dominant that it will be a deterrent for Olympic cricket. Ian Chappell is an egomaniac. His contributions to the sport as a participant have been great, yet i don't actually have a fourth of that appreciate for him as a commentator and individual. as nicely, you're saying glamour and glitz love that's a foul element... sigh. inspect the activities extra worldwide than cricket interior the worldwide right this moment. there is soccer, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Fernando Torres, David Beckham, and so on; basketball, with veritable giants like LeBron James and Kobe Bryant, who, even while among the real athletes on the worldwide interior the Olympics look as though they have the physique of a Greek God; or tennis, and poster boy Nadal of the bulging biceps. like it or not, s*x sells interior the well-known worldwide. human beings opt to be sure athletes who're supremely athletic and robust looking; on the different hand, a sport which lasts 5 days, and is performed in whites and in front of a well mannered, effete crowd. T20 is a godsend to cricket, finished of glamour and athleticism mandatory to stave off different activities, as nicely as become an particularly international activities. So cricket desires desparetely to show off itself as this is new, eye-catching self. this is already interior the subsequent Asian video games; the subsequent step is making it into the Commonwealth video games, and then the Olympics, to a level that the full worldwide would be watching.

Since cricket is not a game globally played by majority of countries, the same has not been included in Olympic. I do not thibnk that the same will be included in the near future.
