Is the day after Christmas always so depressing? Growing up, I used to hear an expression where people would say something "is about as festive as December 26th." It was meant to be sarcastic, since the day after Christmas meant that the festivities are over.

So, who else is bummed out that Christmas is over?

Did you get what you asked for? Were you surprised by any of the gifts you received?

I am sorry this is long but really want some honest opinions. My hubby's family has a holiday tradition that just gripes me. The family "consists" of 4 siblings & their kids/grandkids. For Christmas, EVERYONE buys for the siblings. They buy for each other, the grandkids & the kids buy for ALL of them. The "kids" (approx ages 20-40) are left out. We are expected to get gifts for all the siblings & all the young kids & get nothing in return. I KNOW the holiday is not about what you get but it gets expensive to buy gifts for the four siblings & their dozen grandchildren-knowing that the gesture is not returned.
I have talked to my husband about trying to start the same tradition as my family. We buy for the grandkids (about 6 of them) & ALL the adults play dirty Santa ($25 limit).
We spend about 75% less $ on my family party than we do on his. We DO take food to each party (not taking this expense in account).
Should we suggest a change of this practice or just be silent???

I bought a nice little pretty reindeer at an animal auction for Christmas Eve. In an effort to impress my kids & the neighborhood, I hired a handler and a Santa to go on my roof Christmas Eve for all to see. Everything went great – kids were happy, neighbors were happy and it was a magical moment for all. However, this reindeer has gone completely buck wild in my basement. Between his antlers and hooves, every wall and piece of furniture is nearly destroyed. I can’t even get within 20 feet of this animal without him going berserk. When I bought him, I was hoping to give the neighborhood folks rides on him this week but at the rate he is behaving I can’t get him out of the house. Either he ships up or he is getting kicked out of my house. I even slipped some Tylenol PM in some string beans I feed him and that did not work!! What can I do to tame this animal?

I like nothing better than to relax for a few hours with a beer and nibbles at the pc playing on line games, wearing my other halfs bra over my ears and her knickers over my face(gusset over the nose for screen viewing), smoking a cigar in a long silver cigaratte holder, wearing mirrored sunglasses and speedo swimming trunks . I find little traditions like this make the festive season all the more special

Do you decide to do the same thing every new year (lose 10 lbs.) but don't ever do it? What is your resolution this year? Do you think you'll stick to it?
