I have a dear friend of the family (I'll call her Deborah) who does everything that she can to help my relatives and I with my 3 year-old little sister. She baby-sits willingly, buys gifts for my sister during birthdays and holidays and often calls to see about our well-being. The problem is that Deborah has the most obnoxious, spoiled, and ill-mannered 7 year-old grand daughter (Tara) who cannot differentiate adults from her peers. Quite often I have put Tara in check for speaking rudely to adults and my sister and even hitting her. And I've stopped myself from disciplining her on a few occasions because it's not my place. So because Deborah has given so much to my sister should I feel obligated to purchase her little brat a gift as well this year?
P.S.
I will definitely buy Deborah a Christmas gift but that grand daughter, arrrgh! If I ever come across a giant slingshot, I swear, Tara will be the first one I place into it!
