Hubby and I are giving up smoking - this time for good! I want to be around when my kids are older - it's the best motivation I can possibly have.

"On any great journey, start with small steps."
I find that setting milestones to be useless, because the task or goal I want seems too far or too great when I get hit with problems along the way.
Instead, I set footstones - tasks that are manageable and within reach.
Hence, with exercising or loosing weight, I know I won't keep my resolution to go to the gym 3-4 times a week. Heck, it would be a miracle if it was once a week to the gym when April comes around. Therefore, for the first week, I set the footstone at parking farther away from the building entrance, of any building, so that I would walk more. Simple & easy to do. The following week, I might add 3 minutes of light stretching a day. Next week, maybe add 5 sit-ups after the stretching. Following week, make it 10 sit-ups. Fifth week, 15 minute walk around the block after the sit-ups. And so on. Start with small, manageable steps. This helps build up a habit and your confidence.
One important part, I would decide on a reward for myself at the beginning of the week. Something small, but enjoyable. Hence, I would have a goal to finish my task for the week and earn my reward. I like to go see movies, so after completing my weekly task, I reward myself with a movie. This way I am focused on the reward and not so much the dreary task. The task become something to overcome to get my reward.

Yes I do have a resolution as well.....Everyone usually sets a goal to lose weight but instead I plan to just keep it simple and say that I would like to be happy! Instead of stressing over things you cant fix over night my resolution is to live in the present. Try and not let stress and the everyday hussle and bussle ruin your life. I will try to live in pure bliss....

Mine last year was to write thank-you notes...............it never happened. Good luck with yours! Remember, if you don't want to look like everyone else (aka overweight - their is an obesity epidemic after all), then you have to do what they WON'T.
That lady below me said everyone's new years resolution is to lose weight, but it isn't mine.
