do you think that as a modern society we should still be dependant on a superstitious/mythological idea of a supreme being that is responsible for the myriad of worlds in the unverse or do you think it's even more important to herald our beliefs over the science idea

here's the question: i'm a master's level licensed clinical social worker, i've been in the field for seven years and am totally burnt out. i'm considering my different options, which may include returning to school, i have a g.i. bill to use. does anyone have an anthropology degree? how are you using it? what level, bs, ms, phd? is everything i read about globalization making anthropologists more in demand true? also, how did you specialize? i am so interested in so much, it's about impossible for me to narrow it down. thanks!

I mean, to be honest we are quite weak compared to many animals that exist today. I'm not even talking about the dinosaurs. we have very little natural defence, as we only have our limbs to kick and punch

This is a follow-up to my last question: Does homosexuality exist because of intolerance?

So I am going to assume evolution works towards the benefit of entire species and individuals within that species do not have to procreate to obtain this, e.g. worker bees. I'm also going to assume evolution starts off with every animal for themselves and at some point they evolve beyond that; to where we have species collectively combining their own unique genetic talents together to form societies, instead of having every member of the species equipted with every possible positive trait.

If this is true we have to look at the definition of the human species in terms of our collective genetic traits and sociology, how we manage these traits. A genetic trait being something that must serve an essential purpose to be successfully developed over time, as opposed to a genetic mutation which just appears. What does/did homosexuality contribute to humanity in order justify its prevalence?

Being 17 a reality that annoys the hell out of me is having to have this or that degree for you to be taken seriosuly.
if one self educates and simply talks with people who do know about teh subject and you read about the subject which was written by people who know about the subject....I really don't see why autodidactic individuals aren't taken as serisouly as someone with a degree in whatever field. Someone can't write a book about physics and be taken serisouly if he has not spent 20 years in a university.

Another reality that annoys me is the incomprehensiveness of difference bewteen individuals. this encompasses war and even relationships.

Another reality that annoys me is that most "future movies" are about something bad such as asteroidal impact or alien invasion. Why don't they make movies depicting utopic ways of living? Wouldn't those give ideas to scientists and architects? Star Trek gives ideas to real scientists. Imagine movies about utopic ways of living!

Did any earlier religion have the concept of a day of rest?

The Ten Commandments were not original, except for the item about Sabbath-keeping. That one item seems to be absent from the Egyptian Books of the Dead and the Babylonian codes of law such as Hammurabi's. Did it perhaps originate with the Hebrews?

Why do most religions discount evolution? We all know what we have learned in school. There were dinosaures yet the bible dosn't mention them...We know the Earth is over 500 million years old yet bible schollers say that according to the Holly bible it is between 8 and 12 thausand years old...so why are we so scared to embrace facts, and so scared to discount fiction?

I can understand natural disasters like lava and ash, but take today's news of the discovery of a 'rich' tomb in greece. A pic of the excavation looks like the structure was buried in dirt. How does that happen?
