I definitely believe in God. The complexity of man's mind & body give evidence of a creator. Man's interpertation of what He said may not be right.
I have no problem with science nor that God uses the natural to perform the supernatural.
Much of science would have had no basis w/o being made aware of it in the Bible. Read God's answer to Job when he asked to die. There was no way there was the technology back then to know even some of those basic cosmos questions. Man didn't know the world was round, God did.
Watch the history channel specials where they've found evidence of what they couldn't before including Sodom & Gomorrah. They wouldn't even have known to search w/o it being in the Bible.
I believe both science & God can hold hands as it helps us better understand the how. But science doesn't have all the answers. If there were no God I'd hate to see how much worse this world would be w/o accountability to something higher than an earthly authority or prison.
If life is no more than living until we die, why bother hanging around? If the worlds are no more than chemical equations & we'll never see them up close anyway why bother? If no reward why sacrifice life?
It's the mysteries that intrique us. Miracles that awe us and love that makes both the good & pain worth experiencing. To believe something so wonderful all evolved by chance seems more foolish to me.
I want to understand it all, though I know I never will this side of heaven. That doesn't stop me from inquiring. But that desire is born of the very essence & breath of a creator God that flows through the veins of every living thing. Especially the ones made in His image.
Anyone soldier can tell you there are no atheists in surrounded foxholes.

Most people work off a preponderance of evidence, such as used in court. It is very true that God himself cannot be tested using the scientific method, but that does not remove any possibility of his existence. Be honest with yourself and tell me how much of evolution can be proven using the scientific method? How can you test, recreate, falsify or observe something that supposedly happened millions or billions of years ago? Creationists use the same evidence but interpret it differently. If science could figure out a way for life to form naturally (which they can't) how did the first cells develop from a simple amino acid? Have you looked at the steps it takes to do that? If the first cells actually managed that hurdle, then where did all the genetic information come from? One inch of DNA holds thousands of times more information than today's super computers. Explain to me how that could have happened naturally.

People draw great strength from religious ideals. I, myself, am a Christian and find that having the belief of a greater being is comforting. It makes life seem far less meaningless then, at times, it may appear. Having something to look forward too, to look up to, and to trust in, is, in no way, a bad thing. It is only when people claim religious ideology to be the reason behind their aggressive actions that matters become problematic. I would be first to admit that Christianity has seen some dark days but people are people and will do stupid things, using anything as an excuse. Bush is a serial offender as using God as a reason as to why he should do the things he does. That is unfortunate. Nonetheless, what is wrong with having something to believe in? As long as you do not become disillusioned and foolish, having a faith by which to lead your life is healthy. Setting yourself guidelines and a path to follow creates structure. Tell me, what is so bad about that?

I think we (the human race) are creating god?
I don't know how long it will take but our God will be created soon.Every planet or system in the universe has its own time frame so that i believe anyone of them who has intelligent life has or will have its own God and one day all of them will unite somehow to create a greater god and it will go on like this. There won't be any travels between stars as we already communicate with light speed. All we have to do is protect our planet and our system from naturel disasters which can happen anytime. The God we are creating is a scientific God and we are living with it and in it and putting every kind of knowledge we have found upto now to this God of ours to make it perfect.
There are some kind of people who can see the future like Nostradamus or lets say the prophets but there is no religion.
I wonder if there is anybody in this world who has similar thoughts.

The fact that you are allowed to ask such a question shows that God is greater than science and man. The last time he finally lost his temper was with Sodom and Gomorrah and that was over homosexuality. This generation better watch out given the changes in the law being inflicted by the Blair government.

I think we should think about both! Actually, God can take form in many things... people, lessons, friends, lovers, peace, happiness, energy... I think that it is all good, no matter what you believe, because people in general are really a lot alike, and even if an Atheist butts heads with a Christian, there is still no reason for them to not be enlightened by each other. There can still be love there, despite the differences, because we are all from the same species anyways :) It's just cool to know that.

Im just horrified that smartass says in his answer that evolution is scientifically impossible. Such a strong bold statement for someone whos not questioning the utter lack of proof in his delusional religious beliefs..... scary scary world we live in. This is why wars start..... sorry but this world is here thru million and millions of years of science..... not a big man with a beard....

The ancient myths are very important. They were formed out of man's impulses, yearnings, and subconscious. Myths around the world have many similar elements. If some people think the stories of the bible are myth, so be it. They are important to people and dont' need to go away. This does not make science any less important. Tolerance, tolerance.

It's obvious you vote for science, but God is more than how the world is created. God gives hope to the hopeless, I'm not a preacher, but almost started. So I will leave you with this, when times are tough, not like oops I lost my keys, but like loosing your family, struggling to find your way back from addiction, you know I could go on, but look, until you have lived the life of a believer you may never understand God's place.

I believe that we should'nt depend on such a "superstitious/mytholgical idea" (as you put it) as much as we used to anymore. Now everyone is more ratiional when it comes to things, like why certain things happen. For example evolution. Many people don't believe in it but we have proof positive of its existance. But then again, religiouse beliefs are what motivates people to do good things by helping others. And it's always good to hold on to our roots, in this case, the beliefs passed down from people before us. I myself don't believe in anything like that, but I don't think its a waste of time either. It has its good effects on people and society.
