Okay this one is REALLY complicated, SO PAY ATTENTION!
Find the volume of a plane:

Plane: x/a + y/b + z/c = 1
Bounded by: x/a + y/b = 1
x = a – ya/b
y=b

With the knowledge that: xoy plane z = 0
yoz plane x = 0
xoz plane y = 0

I tried using double integrals, but it is a NASTY change of variables and has some even more IRRITATING substitutions. I think I you need to use integration by parts, but I tried that and I’m getting nowhere! ANY help would be appreciated, I just ask that you show a lot of work!

Let f(x),g(x) be any rational functions of x (over the rational numbers).Show that f(r) = g(r) => f(-r) = g(-r). [Note that we assume that if f(x) or g(x) is p(x)/q(x) then q(r) =/=0; so, for example, q(x) = x^2 - d is not allowed. Hint: observe that since r is irrational if a,b,c,d are rational then a + br = c + dr => a=c and b=d]

Let f(x)=x^6+16x^3. Find the local minimum and maximum points and values of the function f(x).

This problem was on my third calculus test and I got half of it correct, but I believe in actuality that I got the entire problem right.

I came up with two critical values of (x=0, x=-2)

Local Minimum at x=-2, with a value of -64
Local Maximum at x=0, with a value of 0

Could someone please double check this problem for me to make sure that it is in fact incorrect.

Thank You

A winch at the top of 12 meter high building pulls a pipe of the same length to a vertical position. The winch pulls in rope at a rate of -0.2 meters per second. Find the rate of the vertical change and the rate of the horizontal change at the end of the pipe when y=6.

if anyone could even tell me where to start that would be very helpful. i've been trying to figure this problem out for a while now. thanks in advance.

Okay, so here's the problem. There's this guy (say James) who paid $15 to manufacture for a shoe. When he receives the pair of shoes, he has it marked to be sold at $21. So this customer (say Bob) comes with a counterfeit money of $50. Not knowing the the $50 is counterfeit James goes to his next door shop neighbor (say Mark) to get some change he James basically exchanges his counterfeit $50 for real $50. The James gives his customer Bob his change and the shoes. Later, the next day, Mark comes back to James to ask for a real $50 back when he (Mark) realized that the money was fake. How much money did James lose?

I think the answer is $94 but I also got a whole lot of other answers so I don't know. Please give your answer and an explanation.

Much thanks ^^
