i need help with this math review-solving equations algebraically.?

1/2x+2/3=1/8x-3/2

i know i should be able to know this, but i completely forgot about it because he randomly put a really old problem from something we're not even doing on the test review. thanks!

first of all get all the equation under one denominator as an lcd

lcdis 24

(1/2x+2/3=1/8x-3/2) 24

12x+16=3x-36
12x+16-16=3x-36-16
12x=3x-52
12x-3x=3x-3x-52
9x=-52
x=-5 7/9= -5.77777..8
