1) A small business firm determined that its earnings for the past five years could be represented by a linear function. In 1987, the company sold 15,000 products and earned $250,000. In 1988, sales were 17,000 units and earnings were $283,390. Find the earnings on sales of 20,000 units.

2) The height of a triangular sail on a boat is 2 t. less than 4 times the length of its base. If the area of the sail is 45 ft. find the length of its base and height.
