I know this sounds like a stupid question and it probably is, but a lot of sources show the Swiss flag as square and a lot of them show it as a rectangle. Which shape was the original design and is it an international rule for a flag to be rectangular? Also, what is with the shape of the Nepalese flag? Is that the actual shape or is it on a rectangle?

I'm writing a historical romance and am wondering which place might be a better setting: either Hertfordshire.....or Herefordshire. And they can't be located too far from London. And aslo, does the two places contrast drastically in scenery?? I need a place with lowly rolling hills....cast fields and pastures..... you know, lols. What is it like in the two places?
