Somewhere in MAIN seems to be the furthest point east; Somewhere in/near/above california seems to be the west point.. Measuring in a straight line, not a curve line that goes through all the states.

Your question asks straight line distance from point to point. The longest distance I could measure was from Sail Rock, ME, to Sea Lion Rock, CA, which measured 2,893 miles "in a straight line." Shorter than I expected, but I played with this for about a half hour.

Incidently, the longest FL-WA measurement I could get was about 2,850 miles.

Good luck!

The contiguous United States (not including Alaska and Hawaii) is approximately 2500 miles wide. I calculated 2767 miles using the coordinates of West Quoddy Head, Maine (easternmost point) and Cape Alava, Washington (westernmost point).

Distance from Ferndale, California to Houlton, Maine, appears to be about 3300 miles. Those seem to be extreme points of the contiguous US.

it depends from where you are starting and stopping from. Is is from a birds flight, or from a a human perspective driving across the country. Its like about 3000 miles from NYC to LAX when you fly. The longest distance is about 3200 miles from LAX to portland maine.
