I place the same amount of gas in a one half liter container. When all other conditions are controlled for, shouldn't the temperature of the co2 gas in the second container be higher as more molecular collisions are occurring between paricles? And heat is "random motion of molecules" right? So when a gas is transferred to a smaller container, its temperature is raised, correct?

If you pour a glass of Pepsi (mostly acidic) and rub your finger on your nose and get the oils on it (base) and touch the foam it eats away the acid. How does it happen? Shouldn't the acid eat away at the base due to the nature of the chemicals?

I have no idea what Ka or Kb even is. I just need some help.

1. When 0.20 mol of lactic acid, HC3H5O3. is added to water to make 1.0 L of solution. The equilibrium hydrogen ion concentration is 5.3 x 10-3 M. What is the Ka of the lactic acid?

HC3H5O3 (aq) → H+(aq) + C3H5O3- (aq)

2. A 0.10M solution of formic acid has an equilibrium [H+] = 4.2 x 10-3 M. What is the Ka of the formic acid?

HCOOH(aq) → H+(aq) + HCOO- (aq)

3. What is the equilibrium hydrogen ion concentration of a 0.25M solution of carbonic acid, H2CO3? The Ka = 4.2 x 10-7.

H2CO3 (aq) → H+(aq) + HCO3-(aq)

4. What is the equilibrium for the hydroxide ion in a 0.10M solution of CN-? The Kb is 2.0 x 10-5.

CN-(aq) → OH-(aq) + HCN(aq)

5. What is the equilibrium concentration of hydrogen ion in a 0.10 M solution of propanoic acid, C2H5COOH? The Ka of propanoic acid is 1.8 X 10-5.

C2H5COOH(aq) → H+(aq) + C2H5COO -(aq)

Any help is appreciated

1. The pH of a solution is 2.1, what is the [OH-]?

2. When [H+] = 4.28 x 10-10 M, what is pH and pOH?

3. The pOH of a solution is 11.5, what is the pH and [OH-]?

4. If the hydrogen ion concentration of a solution is 9.58 x 10-5 M, what is the pOH and hydroxide ion concentration?

5. The hydrogen ion concentration of a solution is 6.25 x 10-12 M, what is the hydroxide ion concentration, pH, and pOH?

The main thing I don't understand is the negative logarithm thing. Just an easy to understand explanation would be a life saver.

Preparation

1. Mix thoroughly about 5grams of potassium chlorate with one gram of Mn Dioxide in a watch glass. Transfer the mixture into the ignition/generator tube. Heat the generator tube slowly. Allow few bubbles to escape before collecting oxygen into the test tubes. fill atleast 3 test tubes and cover with cork under water.

Properties
1. Uncork 1 test tube of oxygen and then insert a glowing splint. Observe
2. Place a small amount of S in the deflagrating spoon. ignite sulfur and tilt it into a test tube of oxygen. Take note of the odor of gas produced and add 5ml of water into the test tube. shake and test the sol with blue and red litmus. observe

3. ignite one end of strip Mg Ribbon and drop it into a test tube of oxygen. cool the tube and add 5ml of water. shake the mixture and test it with litmus paper, observe.

B. Preparation
1. How is O2 gas collected? Why could this method be done?
Describe the physical properties of O2?
