What is the solution?

Marble, on heating, produces Calcium Oxide and a gas. If you add water to the calium oxide a Solid B forms. What is this Solid? Also, if you add excess water to this solid and filter a Solution C forms. What is Solution C?

Adding water to calcium oxide, CaO, produces calcium hydroxide, Ca(OH)2. Calcium oxide is called lime, and the process of adding water is called slaking. Calcium hydroxide is sparingly soluble, so that's what is in Solution C.

The solid is slaked lime.

The solution C is Ca(OH)2 (aq).
