In metallic bonding, the electrons are free to move. In ionic bonding, the ions are fixed, and are not free to move.
Polymers consist of long chains of C atoms, joined by N atoms (in the case of proteins) and O atoms (in carbohydtrates).
The C-C bond in ethane is longest, and in ethyne shortest. This is because of the increasing number of electrons in the bond
