Amino Acid glycine-pka of 9.6, can exist in either protonated form (nh3+) or free base (-hn2)
(a) In what pH range can glycine be used as an effective
buffer due to its amino group?
(b) In a 0.1 M solution of glycine at pH 9.0, what fraction
of glycine has its amino group in the ONH3 form?

I was watching an episode of CSI and it was about a man who gambled, and at every tournament he ate about a pound of chocolate.

And he mysteriously died one night after arguing with a waitress.

So it turns out that the waitress put Visine in his drink to give him diarrhea, but instead, since the cocoa used to make the chocolate was from Africa, and the acid rain in Africa is full of lead, which got into the cocoa plants, leaving small traces of lead in the chocolate, which filled the man with lead deposits, reacted with the high level of lead in his body, killing him instantly.

How did this happen? Like what reacted with what, that wouldve caused the man to fall over dead? They never said, and it has been bothering me.

Now it is believed that the early prebiotic atmosphere of earth was probably O2-rich with some nitrogen, a less reactive mixture than Miller’s, with larger amounts of carbon dioxide, which would greatly deter the development of organic compounds!
A major source of gases was believed to be volcanoes, and since modern-day volcanoes emit CO, CO2, N2 and water vapour, it was considered likely that these gases were very abundant in the early atmosphere. In contrast, it is now believed that H2, CH4 and NH3 probably were not major components of the early atmosphere, as Dr. Stanley Miller had used in his well known experiment. Furthermore, many scientists now believe that the early atmosphere probably did not play a major role in the chemical reactions leading to life.
Although the composition of the atmosphere of the early earth is now believed to have consisted of large amounts of carbon dioxide. The oxygen we need to live KILLS abiogenesis!!!
