I am convinced that the hatred people have for our president/the military/our country and its values is the real reason people want the US out. They want to see us lose and be "put in our place", as opposed to winning and democracy and stability spreading.

He became a Muslim after converting and was planning a terror campaign here in the UK and USA.

I think after we have paid for his education in this country and his health while he was growing up now his family should now have to pay for his keep now he is in prison weve paid enough, as they breed the monster.

Why did we take military action against Iraq which apparently
had no weapons of mass destruction (or at least hid them well)
when North Korea was boasting of its nuclear capabilities and
has since exploded at least one nuclear bomb?

Really I have been paying attention but still, by the looks of yahoo answers, me and most people are not totally clear about the outcome terrorists are striving for. Have they put out a mission statement? Is the whole terrorism strategy getting the desired outcome? If terrorists were out to cause suffering for all Muslim people I think their strategy worked.

Here’s my premise:
Following the tragedy of September 11, 2001, the immediate objective of the United States of America was to seek out and capture Osama bin Ladin and the terrorist Taliban organization.

Somewhere along the way, it was decided that Iraq was the real threat to world peace.
While events in Iraq certainly are not very promising, the focus of my question is on Afghanistan, not Iraq.

Since 2001, the Taliban has re-emerged in Afghanistan.
Opium fields (and its by-product, heroin) have blossomed (now supplying the world with 80% of the drug).
Afghan soldiers trained are only 25% of what is needed.
Afghans are still a tribal nation, unable to unite in a democratic sense.
And U.S. and allied troops remain there in a fraction of the numbers needed while most of the money and manpower are funneled to Iraq.

And still: no Osama, no peace, and no end to terrorism.

Current war-on-terror statistics (for both Afghanistan and Iraq):
3,100 - number of U.S. Troops who have died since 2001.

$340,387,926,314 - cost of the invasion (and rising every minute)

My question:
Please explain why you believe U.S. efforts in Afghanistan is worth the effort?

who is down 36 points below the democrat in the polls still wins, will people do anything or just roll over and give up democracy?

It will be a nightmare if he wins when the other guy is ahead 36 points according to our republican paper a day ago--such a lead is almost unheard of..but I have this feeling he'll still get in--payback you know? Will he win? Will anyone rebell if he does? What could we do?

It's funny, so many people biotch about America "stealing" oil from Iraq. How many days would they ride a horse before complaining "Why don't we just take their oil?"

"Why doesn't Bush do something?"
