Myth - terrorism is violence directed towards non-state and non-military targets; i.e. civilians. Insurgent violence that targets military targets or state property isn't necessarily terrorism. There is certainly a grey area. If insurgents were to blow up the Supreme Court building of a country, it could be considered terrorism, since most of the people inside were civilians. If it was blown up at night when unoccupied, then it probably wouldn't be terrorism.
I think the distinction is whether or not civilians are targeted in the violence. If they are, then it is terrorism.
When Iraqi insurgents attack US Marines, I wouildn't call it terrorism. When they blow up a market of Shiite civilians or bomb a mosque of Sunnis, then it is terrorism.

Fact, i say. If China were to invade the USA and take control of our Government. I would fight to the death. I would be a "insurgent" many in political power would call me a "terrorist". In my own mind I would be a "freedom fighter".

Myth! I will be very disappointed with anyone who does not oppose any foreign government in his/her homeland that is seeking to dictate to the nationals how to manage their affairs and live their lives!
