Politics aside: Isn't your question contradictory? the idea of "cut & run" is to PULL OUT THE TROOPS... how can you do that and ABANDON them.

Now if you're talking about the American attitude toward the troops... abandonment of them morally, emotionally whatever that's different and I don't see that. The war has been going on for 3-1/2 years and we have yet to hear any out pouring of anti-military sentiment. Unlike the Viet Nam war, the focus this time is on the validity, or NOT. of the war itself. Near as I can tell the troops are still respected and viewed as doing their jobs.

I think another difference between now and then is this: During the Viet Nam war, atrocities were committed by a small number. That poisons the public's view of all of the troops. Today, atrocities were committed as well.. you've got Abu Graib, Hamdaniya, etc. However, I think the the public knows better than to color all troops with the same ugly brush.

I hope I'm making sense.

I feel sorry for you, pal. To have to carry so much resentment and pain for all these years and to witness the the fact there was no communist take-over of the world despite the debacle of Vietnam must be a tremendous burden. This isn't Vietnam. But we do have a president who has made very wrong decisions and has placed our brave soldiers in harm's way all in the name of power and to make the rich get richer. That, to me, is not honorable. There must be a fair and just way to bring our troops home and to turn back the tide of extremist conservatism. There is no such thing as "cut and run." There is, however, honesty and truth about the reality of our sitation as a nation.

First of all, the bombers of the Balkans and the bombers of the Gulf are like two buttocks of the same ***. But I would like to ask if, before asking this question, you have ever thought about the possibility of the occupation regime in Iraq (maybe) detaining people there (of one ethnic group or another) in random, for no reason whatsoever? I am asking this because I know for a fact that in Kosovo Metohija Serbs and Roma were detained in random, for no reason whatsoever, exept for being a Serb or a Roma.

you're of direction, thoroughly ultimate suited. i'm extra interested in seeing what a Liberal Democrat party could look like if i replaced into forced to choose for between the three, a minimum of they (satirically) are saying that immigration is out of control. Labour have returned and returned surpassed over the cries of the persons, and different politicians in giving concepts to help resolve the mess they positioned us in, and if that wasn't adequate David Cameron is taking maximum of New Labour rules which you will besides call them 'Blue Labour', of direction the only distinction being is that the working classification would be screwed over much extra. My hopes lie in UKIP, in spite of the reality that i'm an English Democrats member myself, i wish that adequate tension is positioned onto the imperative government to alter their way of thinking via the smaller events, multiculturalism could sound stable on paper, yet staring at as we talk's mess - i could extremely guy Fawkes replaced into nevertheless alive. Mass immigration weren't issues we voted for the two while Labour got here into potential, they have deceived the generic public and are starting to be away with it.

Exactly!

We were winning in Vietnam. If you don't belive that, you don't know the facts.

But people here got tired of seeing the consequences of war on TV. They pressured the govt to cut and run.

So we lost a war we were winning. And the result is that America was judged weak. This emboldened our enemies.

We can't afford to do it again. We've got to learn from history.

There is no winning in Iraq as there was no way to win in Vietnam.
Do you want to see us pulling people off the roof of the embassy in Bagdad as we did in Saigon? It is better to get out now before we loose any more of our young people.
