When I was a young and misguided student with absolute disregard for my own health and safety, I attempted a legendary drinking competition known as 'The Marathon.' For those who have not heard of this, it requires that the 'Athlete' must remain awake AND drunk for 56 hours straight (don't ask why 56, I don't know).
This sounds easy. It's not! The difficulty is when sleep deprivation meets alcohol, a sedative. According to the rules, to class as constantly drunk, the athlete must consume at least 3 units of alcohol per hour and the clock does not stop until after the first 10 units. Vomiting, sleeping, unconsciousness and medical treatment all result in disqualification. My personal best from 4 attempts was 49 hours and 22 minutes. I then fell over and began snoring (according to witnesses - I don't remember).

This was many years ago now. Does anyone know of this competition, its origins and whether anybody has ever managed to complete the feat? I honestly believe it to be impossible.

I have a 19 yr old daughter (legal age in Canada). I know she tried drinking when she was 18(she told me), but not in my house. I made it clear I would not condone underage drinking, but that I would pick her up or drive anywhere to make sure she was safe.
She is a very light responsible drinker.
I also have a 17 year old who has never tried drinking. I know because through ppl in the horse show world have told me she has refused a drink when at a event overnight and she goes to school, rides and works. Period, anyone with a horse freak 17 yr old can tell you the same.

How will you teach your child about the responsible consumption of alcohol?

Ok I had a party last week with two kegs. Both the kegs were tapped with a Co2 system in a walk in frige. We finished 1 keg and about a quarter of the other keg.
Is the keg that I didn't drink still good? It has been chilled the whole time. It is curently in a refrigerator, and the beer was tapped with Co2 not air or a hand pump.
Thanks. Please only answer if you know.

I am 16 years old and i have recently started drinking roughly about once a week with my friends. I love the feeling but i am aware that it is dangerous and i never go overboard. Will this affect my height or my mental capacity?

I understand that the amount of alcohol depends on how much alcohol is put in. But I also understand that, when you ask for a specific cocktail at the bar, the coctail is prepared according to a standard recipe. That is, the same cocktail at two different bars will have the same amount of alcohol. ( Correct me if I'm wrong ). I, therefore, would appreciate the specific names of the coctails.
I also do not refer to virgin coctails - as far as I know they don't have any alcohol. Thanks.
