the law was involved and an officer was giving breathalyzer's to see who could drive. I blew higher than anyone at .31 and it blowed his mind that I appeared more sober than anyone else. He said that he never seen anyone blow that high?

Yeah, .31 is pretty high. .08 is the general legal limit in the U.S. and sometimes .10. You can die from a .31 B.A.C. level. I've had higher than that on several occasions and even seemed more sober than everyone else, but that isn't necisarily a good thing. I would say that most people don't get a B.A.C. level of .31 ever.

I strongly suspect the breathalyzer being used was either defective, or being improperly used.

Or you weigh in at well over 350lbs. due to obesity..in other words, you carry a considerable amount of fat on your body.

This is were metabolic rate affects peoples reactions.
Breathalyzers are normally very accurate.
The reason I say this is that .31 is enough to render the average person unconscious, and or hospitalized.

Plus I know how they work. They are not cheap unreliable devices, despite what others may say.

But each hour that elapses without a drink will obviously change the results.

The true test is a blood sample in any event.

.40 is lethal. Serious brain damage results in coma, organ failure and death. Many people have died, with a b.a.c. less than .30 The most reported are first time drinkers engaged in college "hazing" rituals.

The ones I'm aware of involve vodka, whiskey, etc. consumed at a rate that defies any definition of common sense.

Also, breathalyzers are used twice on suspected drunk drivers to confirm the first reading. The usual variance is less than .02 (+/-).

Just remember, the expression, "Name your poison" when at the bar is based on fact! Alcohol is a poison that will kill you at high enough concentrations.

A BAC of 0.20 is generally considered a lethal dose. As one commenter mentioned, it may be artificially high if going from drink to blow immediately. After 30-60 seconds, it would likely give an accurate reading. I'd suspect a machine malfunction, however.

However, alcoholics have a much higher tolerance, and may routinely reach 0.25 or greater without lethal effect.

If ever required, demand blood testing instead. You may still be nabbed (if you are, in fact, drunk), but the testing methodology and equipment is far more sensitive than a plastic box that very often is abused in a police officer's gearbag and infrequently calibrated. Breathalyzer is quck and dirty, like a cheep prostitute, and you don't want what's coming.

An alcoholic can usually maintain....seemingly walk and talk alright...at around .15. A person that doesn't make a habit out of drinking regularly or otherwise has a low tolerance for alcohol would be quite ill of not passed out with a blood alcohol concentration of .31. Anything over .5 is extremely dangerous and even fatal.

It could be lethal. I would assume that you drink alot and often if you were the most sober acting, yet still had that high of a b.a.c.. This only means you have a VERY high tolerence to alcohol, unfortunately, you will still be DWI if tested.

I think it is the vanishing twin thing to be honest with you. Either you are still prego or they did not clean you out enough and left something in there to cause the HCG levels to still be that high. If they are at 11.5 you are prego for sure. How far along I dont know. It could have been that you had twins in there.

with an average drinker a 2.5 is pass out stage a 3.o is comatose and a 4.o is brain dead. dont congrat yourself. your tolerance is high which is not good.a bac or blood alcohol content can register high and someday your tolerance wont tolerate it.
it also depends on what youve eaten and when, your mental attitude at the time and if your a female or not.
