Although not as prevalent as years ago, some manufactures continue to place small products in unnecessarily large boxes or containers. Do you ever not purchase a product with excessive waste packaging? Do you ever contact the product manufacturer about the excessive packaging?

Some concerned people are very worried about wombats and the terrible affliction that they suffer called mange. This is a parasite that if left untreated allows the womabt to die a slow and painful death. Several groups are working to develop a method to self treat wombats by merely walking into their burrows. http://www.wombatprotection.org.au/ Maybe this could be done for other animals.

It seems as though we have been changing our spiral bulbs at least as often as our old incandesent bulbs. The spiral bulbs are more expensive but we are told they use less electricity to put out the same amountof light as an incandescent of equal wattage. Publicity says they last longer. Are they really "green"? or economical? What is your experience?

Hey Yahoo,

I have the following thesis:

Human Population Growth has the most direct impact on Wildlife and Ecosystems.

If you agree, you are PRO this thesis: Research the following support and report (e-mail) your findings to the group by tonight or tomorrow.

If you disagree, you are CON this thesis: Same as above.

Pro support:
Human population competes for resources and space.
Regulate population
Education

Con support:
In China, they have regulated birth rate --research the negative impact of that.
Nations with higher education have a lower birthrate. (Europe + Japan population has a negative rate)
Innovation of new technologies.
Educated people realize they don't need as many resources

What are your thoughts?

We all know that deforestation is a HUGE issue around the world. We've become dependant on resources that trees provide (after they're cut down). Have we forgotten the wonderful benefits that trees provide while they're still living? Or have we just decided that the importance of the trees' afterlife outweighs all others? What are some alternative resources that could be used to prevent the destruction of trees? Are there any?

Give your conservation & compacting ideas to others. Maybe someone will see something you do & start doing it themselves. If you have noticed a great change on your bills, then let everyone know. Give in details what you like & don't like in your answers.

Serious answers only...If you don't have anything helpful to say then don't answer. This is to help others who actually care. Thanks & God bless.

Web sites like Blackle.com and Earthle.com claim that black pixels use less energy than white pixels. But does the science really back this up? It still takes energy to create a black pixel. A black screen is not really the same as a blank screen (turned off, for example).
