the song was sampled for de la souls "much more" song....making the voice faster with a higher pitch when the actual song is slow with a guy and i believe his piano..?

help im having so much trouble with this song!

So far I can remember that the song is by a man or a group of men. But the song talks about "they walk along" or something like that. I really can't remember. It's kind of slow. Please help me!!!! I know it was out in the 90s. Other things I remember are something like "never looked back". I also know that it's kind of a narrative song, it tells a story. Please, I would give everything to remember! I'm guessing the song talked about these men that traveled. Oh gosh help me :-)
