Often during a musical artists career, they undergo some sort of transformation that changes not only themselves, but the music that they make.

For example, the Beatles of 'Revolver' and 'A Hard Day's Night' were NOT the Beatles of the White Album or 'Sgt. Pepper'.

Another example might be the Toxic Twins incarnation of Aerosmith, versus the MTV nuthugging version of the band. Blues-infused hard rock that was airtight, versus a band that recorded songs tailor-made for FM airplay.

Others?

Happy Friday and Happy Holidays, R&P! And I haven't seen her around in a while, but Happy Birthday, BuzzKill! :)

My question is based on this question that gorge busch asked:

Sometimes musicians are their own biggest enemy, and we discuss them here on almost a daily basis. The modern examples (i.e. Britney) are more commonly discussed, but they are hardly the first - since musicians have been around, they have been getting into trouble...with the law, their spouses, the fans, etc. And in quite a few cases it has impacted their popularity of their music and damaged their relationship with those who support them.

So here is (hopefully) the more positive side of all of this. What musician do you think has made the greatest comeback musicially after failing the fans in their personal lives? And it is truly possible for the fans to forgive and forget?

because all of the damn downloading

every question it seems someone wants to downlad some songs. that is why all these one hit wonders and club bangers keep coming out cus they know they dont have to make a good album cus people are going to just downlad that one song anyways. i bet like 6 people own the soulja boy CD, and i bet 2 million have it downladed. maybe if we started buying the albums like you use to have to the artisit would put a little more time into trying to make a "quality" album instead of a hit that is going to bring a lot of money in real fast. take these for example

chronic
doggystyle
East 1999

the whole album was good and you bought it for that reason. i would actually go and buy those again if i ever lost them or something, even though they are over 10 years old.

thumbs down to downloaders

I was wondering if the instrument capable of making the deepest notes of any orchestral instrument is the Octocontrabass clarinet. I have had several sources tell me so, such as on Jay Easton's website, and Wikipedia. Also, the Guinness World Records book lists this instrument as the lowest sounding one.

However, Wikipedia also lists the Contra bassoon as the lowest instrument, and even my friend and several others who play various double reeded instruments agree.

Can someone validate my question? I'm dying to find out!

(and please do not take into account that only 3 of these instruments were supposedly ever made)

I would like to get another album from the beatles. Right now I have the red album and I want to get the blue album and Abbey road and revolver and those. But which is the best? Also, if you could, could you rate the movie Help! by them.

Let me state up front : I am and was a huge fan of the MTV 'Unplugged' series, and acoustic music in general. I thought it was both entertaining and intriguing to see various artists interpret their material (or in some cases, the material of others) in such a raw and unfiltered manner.

I've read numerous times on R&P, as well as other places, that people detest these vehicles. I've even seen the word 'abomination' used. I'm not here to bash, I'm simply curious why so many people dislike the acoustic format.
