Casta Diva from Norma always calms me down. O Mio Babbino Caro by Puccini is also good. The Flower duet is obvious, but I also suggest listening to Qui La Voce (the aria, not the cabaletta) from I Puritani, Caro Nome from Rigoletto and Willow Song from the Ballad of Baby Doe. The most important thing is to get good singers though. For a soothing experience, I suggest Joan Sutherland's recordings of Casta Diva, The Flower Duet and Caro Nome. For Qui La Voce and O Mio Babbino Caro I suggest Anna Netrebko (though she isn't good in everything she does) and for Willow Song I suggest Beverly Sills. Enjoy.

Humperdincks(sp-?) "Hansel and Gretel". One of the most beautiful operas ever written. You'll especially love the "Dream Sequence".
Another you might like, but I must warn you that it is a real tear-jerker; I never listen to the whole opera anymore, because I become depressed for several days: can't sleep nor eat.
Anyhow, it's Puccini's " Madame Butterfly": "One Fine Day"???
"Ebbtide": not classical, but a serene, placid, beautiful piece of music: very nice on the organ.
And sorry, but I've got to go.
Enjoy,
Wotan

Ave Maria is not an opera song.
This is an Opera song : Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves

And The Flower Duet from Lakme :

And the Habanera from Carmen :

And this is NOT opera but I think you will like it anyway : Nella Fantasia...music by Ennio Morricone :

And here is a version of the Ave Maria which you may not have heard. It is by Caccini :
