We want to have a public performance of old Christmas songs, with them recorded and post on YouTube, but we don't want to violate copyright laws, again. Recently we learned the hard way that the Happy Birthday song is still under copyright restrictions and will be until the year 2030. So, how do you learn if some old song is still protected?

Talking about the music only (not the lyrics), is London Calling truly a punk album? I guess you can hear some punk rock in it, but most of the songs are influenced by several other genres. For example, the title track is pretty reggae influenced. I don't know what to call the album, but it doesn't sound as punk as albums such as Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols, Ramones, or even The Clash. Does anyone else share a similar opinion or am I just being dumb?

It's a great album (in fact, one of my favorites), but I'm just asking.

I want to become a musical composer. I speak some
German, and might study music in Germany when I am a senior in high school. Does anyone have any advice on where I can get the best education? What makes a great composer? Is there any websight that teaches basic composition tools (harmony and counterpoint, etc.) Any advice or comments whatsoever are helpful. Can a conductor that conducts a High School symphony also conduct a professional one?
What differentiates the two?
Seems like its easy to differ between a pro and amateur musician but conductor I don't see the importance.
