I love collaborations. Whether it is guest spots on someone's album, or guest stars at the concert, one-time jam sessions at a festival, even sampling in a rap. I especially love genre bending, with strange combinations of artists doing something unexpected.
So I am watching Crossroads, which I keep close tabs on and DVR when I see something extra incredible. Ricky Scaggs is the host, and he is a collaborative genius in my mind. Tonight's guest is Bruce Hornsby...and he is one of my personal favs.
He is very creative. I had never really thought Bruce, a piano man, could pull off a night of bluegrass but he and his songs did very well. He also has worked with Don Henley and stepped in to help the Grateful Dead...and Tupac used one of his licks.
So who is on your list of great collaborators? I have enjoyed most of the duos from Crossroads, myself. And I love James Taylor who has contributed to a lot lot lot of different artists' work.
Your turn...
