well, i want to download free songs but i m not able to use limewire at my house or any program like that. I need a site thats virus free. And it would be great if u list some of your fave song and the singers since i m doing a survey sort of thing, thanx

There are a few bands on myspace that allow you to freely download their songs. Also, at archive.org there are thousands of freely downloadable full concerts by some of the best jambands ever. Same thing at bt.etree.org .
If you are talking about downloading other songs, namely studio recordings that are available for sale on other sites and in stores, that is illegal. If you are going to steal them, then you should take the risk of getting a virus. Why be a safe thief? If you are going to pirate something, you should at least have the balls to be risky about it, and possibly get a virus. Don't be a wimp.

well, I guess the best would be vinden.nl, it's like google search, but you can search mp3, too...and mostly u don't need to go to the website where the song is, only right click and save target, so you don't get any viruses... but you only get popular songs there... songs that aren't well known are hard to find...
there's also www.mp3real.ru, but I mostly don't get a word of what's said there, it's all in russian...but there are many albums there, with all songs in mp3, if you click on the right links...=)
sometimes even in google search you get to go to some good websites, but there there's always the risk of getting viruses...
but there are some firewalls that tell you which websites may harm your computer or not, it's just the point of getting one...
but I must say I understand you quite well... in my country most of the cds available in stores are the popular ones, when ppl here like different and not well known music and are not allowed to use credit cards in the internet for amazon, iTunes, and so on, then they really get screwed up if they don't try to get them somewhere else...i also think it's odd that some free songs have better quality than cds...you pay for something worse...well, good luck to get your songs and hope i helped...
By the way, my fav songs are many, but now I'd say Demolition Lovers by My Chemical Romance...

Utorrent is the main suitable one obtainable. you will get the retail version of the music, and it will the main suitable high quality. no longer the songs with the advert's interior the commencing up asserting "HIP HOP quantity DOT COM" or something alongside those lines. they're variety of perplexing to get working, yet its rather nicely worth it.
