Music - 1 March 2007

I need to remember a German band, that was made of brothers and sisters, quite many of them. Most of them had long hair, even the males and they sort of wear hippyish clothes. I think they were at the top of their peak in the 1990s. The music they made was sort of pop-country.
I appreciate your help in recalling their name.

I feel they are greedy and how can the average person afford their tickets and give money to the causes they support. Sting wants us to save the Amazon and send funds, wants us to help support Amnesty Intenational and would like us to support the people of Africa dieing of Aids. At $200 a seat to see the Police. This is a greedy band and people that want to see them can't. Just those exclusive few.

I mean, if a person wants to be a singer, does he/she have to have the ability to compose, or just sing a random song by some random composers?

I know that Kelly Clarkson (my celebrity) composed "Because of You" and sang it herself. Im just wondering if singers HAVE to compose songs for themselves....!?!?
